Open Positions

We are looking for talented researchers to join the group starting Fall 2026. Interested graduate students, undergraduates, and postdocs should contact me at david.hathcock@utoronto.ca. Prior experience in biophysics is useful, but not required. Prospective students should be prepared to learn a variety of theoretical and computational tools (nonequilibrium statistical mechanics, nonlinear dynamics, field theory, markov processes, etc.) and should be enthusiastic about applications in biology and soft matter. See the research page for more details on latest research directions. Our group offers opportunities both for fundamental theoretical work and close collaborations with experimental researchers at University of Toronto and external institutions.

Currently open positions are listed below. Even if no suitable positions are listed, you are still welcome to reach out; there may be fellowships or other opportunities to collaborate that we can explore.
  • Postdoctoral Fellowships: While I don't currently have a specific Postdoctoral opening, there are multiple fellowship opportunities each year for both Canadian and International applicants. I am happy to work on proposals with strong candidates who sufficiently align with the research interests of my group. Please reach out if you are interested (david.hathcock@utoronto.ca), submission deadlines start in early Fall each year.
  • I will be accepting multiple graduate students in Fall 2026 - apply to one of the University of Toronto Graduate Physics Programs.
  • Research opportunities for UofT Undergraduates (rolling basis starting Fall 2026). Inquire by email: include a list of math and science courses taken and a brief description of your interest in the group.
